CONTEMP is an advanced concrete temperature recording and maturity monitoring system. It consists of two key components: the CONTEMP Hardware (a 3-channel temperature recorder with direct cellular connectivity) and the CONTEMP Web Application (a cloud-based platform at app.contemp.live).
1. Device Management
- Register, search, and configure CONTEMP devices through an intuitive interface.
- The dashboard provides a clear overview of all connected devices with detailed sensor data.
- Customizable Sensor Settings: Rename sensors, set temperature thresholds, and define alarm limits to ensure compliance with curing requirements.
2. User Access and Permissions
CONTEMP supports multiple access levels for team collaboration:
- Viewer — Can access temperature and maturity data and receive alerts but cannot modify settings.
- Editor — Has full control over sensor settings, reporting, and device configurations.
- Service & Maintenance Access — Designed for trusted service partners with predictive maintenance capabilities.
- Silent Viewer — Access all monitoring data without receiving notifications, useful for large teams or regulatory bodies.
3. Graphing and Data Visualization
- View and analyze historical temperature data through interactive graphs.
- Explore data trends for different time periods to understand temperature fluctuations.
- Paginated readouts for complete timestamped sensor records.
- Toggle sensors on and off to focus on specific measurements for comparison.
4. Reporting Features
Generate structured reports to document temperature and maturity progress:
- Detailed Results Report — Full export of all sensor readings in Excel format.
- Hourly Report — Consolidates readings into hourly intervals.
- Min/Max/Average Daily Report — Summarized daily readings.
Reports are fully customizable with adjustable time intervals, exportable in PDF or Excel format.
5. Data Consolidation
Merge temperature data from multiple CONTEMP devices into a single report. Two consolidation methods:
- Closest Existing Reading — Selects the nearest available temperature record from the database.
- Linear Interpolation — Estimates values between two readings to maintain uniform data points.
This feature is particularly useful for multi-sensor analysis, such as comparing ambient temperature with multiple concrete curing locations.
6. Concrete Maturity Monitoring
The maturity module calculates concrete strength development based on temperature history and a defined calibration curve.
Calibration Curve Definition
- The calibration curve represents the relationship between temperature history and concrete strength.
- Users input lab-tested strength data, either manually or by uploading an Excel file.
- The system automatically stores and applies the calibration curve for future projects.
Maturity Calculation
CONTEMP uses the Temperature-Time Factor (Nurse-Saul) equation in accordance with ASTM C1074. The system tracks cumulative temperature exposure over time to determine concrete curing progress. Learn more about the Nurse-Saul method →
Project Tracking Dashboard
- Current maturity level based on temperature history.
- Target strength required for project completion.
- Estimated time remaining until full strength is achieved.
- Automatic notifications when concrete reaches specified strength.
Maturity Reports
- Daily strength development progress.
- Temperature readings from all sensors involved.
- Applied calibration curve and corresponding calculations.
- Available in PDF and Excel formats with images and project notes.
7. Edit & Ownership Transfer
- Modify device and sensor settings at any time.
- Ownership Transfer: If a device is registered to another account, a transfer request is sent to the current owner for approval.
- QR Code-Based Registration simplifies activation, eliminating manual serial number entry.
8. Activity Logs & Security
- Complete history of user actions: login/logout records, alarm setting changes, report generation, and data modifications.
- Logs are permanently stored and can be downloaded as a tamper-proof PDF for compliance and auditing.
